Community development leader brings experience connecting organizations, residents and neighborhood resources.
ST. LOUIS — Delmar DivINe has named Kevin Poe its Executive Director, effective October 26. Poe brings experience in community development, nonprofit leadership and building partnerships across the St. Louis region.
Poe has served as Executive Director of the St. Louis Home Repair Network, working to improve access to home repair resources and coordination among local providers. Previously, as Director of Community Assets for The Community Impact Network, he worked with residents, service providers and other partners to plan and develop community spaces and resources in the Normandy Schools Collaborative area.
Poe is board president-elect of the Community Builders Network of Metro St. Louis. The organization connects and supports neighborhood and regional leaders working to build strong, inclusive communities.
“Delmar DivINe was built on the belief that organizations can accomplish more when they work together,” said Maxine Clark, Delmar DivINe’s Chief INspirator. “Kevin understands how to bring partners together around the needs and strengths of the community. We look forward to his leadership as Delmar DivINe grows.”
Poe said he is excited to build on Delmar DivINe’s work and its commitment to the West End. “By planting a flag in this wonderful community, Delmar DivINe has shown that it is here to stay and to build on its impact,” Poe said. “Partners developing Phase 2 will bring 81 additional apartments and create opportunities for more local nonprofits to work in daily proximity to one another. There is so much to be excited about.”
For Poe, the power of proximity extends beyond sharing a campus. “When nonprofits and other partners work near one another, they can shorten the distance between a problem and a solution,” he said. “I see that same power in bringing residents, local leaders, organizations and employers closer together. We can also help connect the dots with people doing great work throughout the West End, the North Side, University City, North County, Hamilton Heights and Wells-Goodfellow. There is power in all of this proximity, and I look forward to being part of it.”
Located in the former St. Luke’s Hospital on Delmar Boulevard, Delmar DivINe brings together more than 40 nonprofit, academic and public sector organizations and partners working across health, education and human services.
